Danza Árabe (zambra). Composed & performed by "Sabicas" (Agustín Castellón Campos, 1912-1990, Spain.)
The zambra is a style of Spanish song and dance that originated in late 1800s in Granada. It is characterized by a 4/4 meter and a rhythm identical to the flamenco tangos or tangos-tientos, depending on the tempo. Harmonically, zambras tend to be written in 3 modalities (major, minor and Spanish Phrygian) and have a very clear Arabic influence. Historically, these were performed by orchestras as well as by flamenco singers and guitarists. Nowadays, zambras are almost exclusively played as instrumental guitar pieces.
