Complete Bar Chord Tutorial (PART 2) for Beginner and Intermediate Guitar Students.
This video is intended for late-beginner to advanced-intermediate students. All demonstrations break down the fundamental components and correct movements of the bar (barré) technique for 4, 5, & 6-string bar chords. I also included several exercises and practice strategies to help you improve correctly. Please make sure to explore more permutations than what is shown in the video.
For the bar (“barre”) exercises in this video, we will use our left-hand index finger to cover 4 or more strings simultaneously. We can do this using only part of the finger or the entire finger depending on what the music calls for. In this video, I show you a set of barre exercises to help you develop your 4, 5, & 6-string barre chords and provide tips to help you avoid injuries.
IMPORTANT: It is imperative that you work on this technique correctly. Your primary goals should be to play this with minimal physical effort & relaxation, and a good tone. Practicing bar chords with improper technique, too much wrist flexion, too many repetitions, or too much pressure WILL LEAD TO INJURY. Please do NOT push through any pain or discomfort. If you are having trouble, contact me (or any teacher) for a lesson to make sure you are doing everything correctly.
